Astrology Forecast for the 2015 Aquarius Full Moon

2015 Aquarius Full Moon
July 31, 2015
3:42 AM PDT / 5:32 AM EDT / 10:42 AM GMT
7 Leo 55 / 7 Aquarius 55

Where do you fit in the new scheme of things? The Aquarius Full Moon delivers a status report on what all the recent changes mean for you and your pack — and motivates you to express your boldest self, no holding back.

As with any Full Moon, this event brings a culmination of feelings and developments that have been in process.  This summer we’ve started to see possibilities and benefits opening up in the aftermath of three years of structures collapsing around and under us.  Much of the new regime is still up in the air — not quite taking shape, not yet delivering substance we can rely on, not yet landing on the ground.

Some may hit a construction milestone under this Full Moon. Whether your outer circumstances change much at all, though, your inner journey promises to be a wild one. It’s releasing hooks, both known and unsuspected, and prompting, yea even daring you to act on your feelings, act on your dreams and do something to pull sone of those possibilities into being.

The Full Moon is jacking up the radical, rebellious, individuating end of the recent cosmic change imperative and making it highly, uniquely personal.  Aquarius may in theory be a detached and intellectual placement for a Moon, but the table tilts coming under this particular one have the capacity for derring-do, passion, steaminess and, possibly, pissiness.

This comes from a round robin of rulerships that pulls two planets into this Moon. The Moon is in Aquarius, ruled by Uranus, agent of unforeseeable, perspective-tilting change.  Uranus is in impulsive, free-agent Aries, which is ruled by Mars, the planet of push. And Mars is in sensitive, emotional, prone-to-take-things-personally Cancer, which is ruled by the Moon.  They’re connected like a Moebius strip, each leading inextricably to the other.

The linking makes for visceral, forceful, startling and unpremeditated action. Well, unpremeditated at that particular instance, maybe. Odds are great the notion will have been stewing and stewing for some time.

Friends, organizations and wishes figure prominently in many of the areas of focus, as well as the triggering events. You’re discovering how you really feel about some of them, and then acting on that awareness.

In some cases this means separating from a friend or a group or, more likely, embracing the realization that you have already separated. (You’re in the first wave of processing data coming off retrograde Venus squaring Saturn in Scorpio, which is smoking out secrets, missing pieces and rectified balance sheets from all manner of past or longtime connections.) In other cases it means a sudden leap into the future — recognizing a shiny brass ring and grabbing it, spying an opening and diving through it, seeing a Bat signal in the sky and showing up with cape billowing.

The deciding factor is your unique path. If a situation does not dovetail with that, breaking away is easy now. (Perhaps effortless, even necessary; situations might simply snap apart). (No pity parties, please.) Friends, groups and dreams that are in alignment will not only feel more right, but also trigger — and deliver — epiphanies and developments that inspire, catalyze and propel.

You’re blasting off. Yes, you’ve done this before, this summer even.  Every blast allows you to move more freely. This one is injected with triple-action fuel (like the sprays and powders with alleged supernatural powers). It facilitates processing all that has happened lately, pulls emotions out from logic and delivers a catalyst customized to you. Let it rip. It’s taking you ever further into yourself.

Astrology Forecast for the 2015 Cancer New Moon

July 15-16, 2015
6:24 PM PDT / 9:24 EDT / 1:24 AM GMT
23 Cancer 14

Water is a complex element. At times it’s cool, refreshing and comforting. At others, it can cut through, reshape or destroy anything it touches, even hard, solid rock.

And so it is with emotions. They’re up for renewal under July’s Cancer New Moon. That sign always heightens sensitivity, and that is going off the charts now, coming as this Moon does in the wake of another in a seemingly endless stretch of shapeshifting and breaking apart and realizing a doorway has closed. As emotions bubble up, nourish, pour out from and wash over us, do not lose sight of their inherent power. Some of them are permanently changing life as we know it.

Cancer is the Moon’s home base, ground zero not just for emotions, but also how we define, express and experience nurturing. Food, home, tradition, family and tribal definitions and, of course, Mommy are commonly woven into Cancerian security blankets, which we clutch, usually against all reason, in the hopes they’ll bring emotional and/or financial safety. Our particular cloth inspires fierce attachment and devotion, not to mention a tenderness, nostalgia and sentimentality that can cause the gruffest among us to reach for a tissue.

This New Moon coincides with — and fosters — a remarkable phase in our emotional expression, individually and collectively.  Notice how much is coming to the surface and flowing into the conversation. One easy-to-spot example is the flood of impulses being freely voiced that have been long undercover. Donald Trump is the poster child du jour for this, with his unapologetic opinions about Mexico stripping the governor off the id of the GOP. The phenomenon is visible as well in the furor over the Confederate flag, which is showing that for some people a 150-year-old war has not really ended. Also in this mix is the rash of government officials putting personal beliefs above the oath of office in which they swore to uphold federal law and refusing to follow the US Supreme Court’s marriage equality ruling. Distrust of the feds is not new; refusing to play by the ground rules so openly is.

Impulses are coming up and out personally, too. Consider what is percolating in you and what you have observed in others. True colors are being unfurled, sometimes in places, people and ways that you would not have predicted. Each unfurling offers a moment of recognition and choice:  Does this flag fit on your team?  We’re seeing more clearly who stands with us and who does not.  The people in that second category, in many instances, haven’t really been with us for a while, and we’re only now realizing. We’re not so much breaking apart as acknowledging separations that already exist. This Moon is a corridor leading out of those separations and into more aligned allegiances.

Emotional honesty and frankness are also on the rise. After the fruit basket turnover that has been the past three years, many of us have reached a hard-won emotional awareness. Instead of rationalizing or making allowances for someone else’s behavior/position/viewpoint (or what we assume that is), we are more immediately conscious of our own emotional reaction and needs. And with that, especially now, comes a decided devil-may-care attitude. After what we’ve been through, why not be honest? Why not put cards boldly on the table? Why not say out loud how we feel and what we want? The worst that can happen is that the person hearing you isn’t the one who will respond or deliver. That person may, in fact, leave your life as a result — which is not necessarily a negative. (Refer back to the true colors section.) The best that could happen is that you do indeed reach your target audience. And regardless, you will feel clear with yourself, and the unexpressed emotions will not be swirling and roiling into a force that eventually spills out uncontrollably and destructively.

That honesty is on tap for anyone who’s brave enough. Or exhausted enough from holding down the lid. Or simply ready to live more simply. Mercury and Mars, the planets of communication and action, are fused together in Cancer and equally tightly aspecting Pluto, the ruler of the subconscious, the hidden, the power behind the scene and, above all, transformation. Pluto is in the middle of Capricorn, the sign ruling structures and the status quo, where he and the cosmic agent of radical change Uranus have been overhauling our foundations for three years-plus.

This configuration is providing a moment of distance from (and, if we take it, perspective on) the changes — a moment when we take in all that has changed and line our thoughts and rhetoric up with our willpower and drive. The inevitable response is voicing our emotions and then following through on them. That may occur forceably, or forcefully, assertively, angrily or aggressively. Some voicing/action combos will have a machete or guillotine effect, cleaning cutting away deadwood, denial or cloaks (which can be enormously positive and freeing) and permanently changing, in some cases killing, the situation (ditto, sometimes).

Though Pluto’s role guarantees some death and dying away, that furthers and support’s the New Moon’s orientation toward growth. The Sun and the Moon are forming a water grand trine with Saturn and Chiron — a free-flowing round robin of energy with the potential to both ground (Saturn) and heal or resolve (Chiron) the emotional expression. Maybe you never dared speak your emotions freely as a normal matter of course before. Maybe it wasn’t in the family rule book, or you doubted your right to have them, or you were invalidated or taunted if you did dare. Maybe you held them back so much than when they did erupt, you came across as a crazy person. (Show of hands? I thought so.)

That was before the trial-by-everything that has been the last three years. You are different. Your environment, goals and priorities are different. The people around you have undergone a similar tempering. Emotional expression and nurturance is now different, too. Be honest with yourself. Be honest with others. Dare to speak and act on your emotions. Put them out there, to use a cliche, and see who responds. Look for true colors. Look for the ones that complement yours.

Astrology Forecast for the 2015 Capricorn Full Moon

July 1-2, 2015
7:19 PM PDT / 10:19 PM EDT / 2:19 AM GMT
9 Cancer 55 / 9 Capricorn 55

Reality As We Know It is suddenly, startlingly, drastically morphing to carry out the change imperative that has been mounting for the past three years. While shifts continue to erupt and propel us forward, the Capricorn Full Moon offers a status report filled with information about their impact on our emotions and sense of security.

The focus of the examination is our bottom line, but that doesn’t mean the exercise is cold or quiet. Even with the Moon in stern, calculating, goal-fixated Capricorn, emotions are deep and passionate. Aggressive, protective instincts have kicked in. Fierce desires have come to light. So have ugly, frightened beasties — hate, paranoia, panic and the terror of sheer survival at stake. A bottle has come uncorked. Whatever is now on the loose — maybe a genie, maybe not — it is not going back in.

The next big phase of existence is already here. Last week’s groundbreaking social and political developments demonstrated that dramatically. (Did it ever cross your mind that the Confederate flag would come down? Mine neither.) The shifts are not only collective, of course. Your own life has catapulted onto a different platform as well. This week throws emotional reflection into the mix, as we continue to experience — and come to grips with — the ongoing reshuffling, reorganizing and rearranging.

It may help to reframe your current reactions as a cost/benefit analysis. Are you getting a return that has sufficient value to you on the time/energy/emotions/sweat/money you are putting into any given situation? Is it leading in a direction that you want to go? Does it feel good or right or safe to continue the investment, or would it be better to cut your losses now?

That line of analysis reflects a theme that is with us all summer, as Capricorn’s ruler, Saturn, slides back into the late degrees of resource-conscious Scorpio. The lord of rules and order demands responsible action (rewards it when it happens and imposes consequences when it does not). He is currently encouraging taking a deep breath, being an adult and dealing with potentially serious or costly loose ends from 2013-2014. They involve all manner of potentially messy, often private issues: joint finances (including splitting them, in divorce or via child support), debt, taxes, sex, trust and acting from integrity (or, at the other end, cloaking, lying or subterfuge).

Signs of how you feel about all this are rampant under the Capricorn Full Moon. Do you feel supported? Rewarded? Undermined? Betrayed? In shock? Up in arms? Determined to move on? Wherever you fall on the spectrum, and that will vary situation by situation, the emotions will end up being clarifying and, ultimately, motivating.

That’s because the two planets associated with our drive, will and actions, Mars and Pluto, are standing as honor guard to the Sun and the Moon as the luminaries reflect each other. Mars in Cancer was the last planet the Sun and Moon contacted before becoming full. All his tendencies in that sign inform the Full Moon: tender, clucking, protective behavior toward the tribe and its traditions (with the legal concept of family lately redefined); taking things personally; acting and reacting out of heightened sensitivity, hurt feelings, or just plain pissiness.

That’s the propellant of the immediate past. The near future brings more profound and decisive emotions and action, which play out over about a week. Thank the other bookend Pluto, the first body the Sun and the Moon will contact after separating. The Moon will cross over Pluto within hours; the Sun will oppose it next Monday, July 6.

This journey underscores the personal, emotional and long-term ramifications of the fundamental restructuring that has happened in our foundations. Influences are at work that are far outside conscious command, in both directions, from instinctive, cellular coding to utterly nonrational impulses to forces greater than any mortal will.

Desires and fears will be equally strong. Watch for behavior that reveals what’s going on below the surface in you and in others. Nothing is trivial. Breaks and rifts will occur that may not be mendable. And maybe that’s the point. Action hero Mars is exactly squaring the Nodes of the past and future, a dynamic aspect that pushes us to choose sides and march forward on our paths.  We could make swift, clean breaks that remove obligations and goals that are not really ours, or that would not deliver an appropriate return on investment for this stage of our lives.

Hang on to the positive potential. This Full Moon is lighting up plenty of it. Jupiter, the sky’s most optimistic and beneficent influence, and Venus, ruler of all we hold dear, are making a link to Uranus that has opened surprising possibilities. Some you’ve long wanted, some you never dared hope for, and all heartfelt to an extreme. They are the silver lining. They are the areas that will flourish because of any refocusing and eliminating that occurs now.

Some of it will even have a heaven-sent or meant-to-be streak. Neptune, the planet of higher love (and transcendence, and illusion, and, yes, delusion) is making an exact, cooperative link to the Full Moon. This encourages marshaling the tender, nurturing potential of Mars in Cancer and acting with gentleness and love for all concerned. It facilitates invoking the bravery of Mars,  Pluto’s fearlessness in the face of death, and Saturn’s preference for stepping up to responsibilities, and behaving cleanly, maturely and courageously.

Let emotions pour. (Cancers are having quite the time right now; be kind.) Be honest with yourself about your reactions and what they mean for your goals. Then act. Honestly, responsibly, lovingly.
